EU Public Procurement and Competition Law The course provides you with knowledge of the rules and case law regarding the framework of EU public procurement and competition.
This includes the main procurement issues such as and primarily the obligation to tender, general procurement principles, the procurement phases of selection and award, and the procurement procedures.
The course will also address the interplay between these two related but independent areas of law. Practice shows that this interplay results in a number of legal challenges, and the most important of these will be addressed on the course. The course includes teaching by active researchers as well as practitioners.
You are encouraged to participate actively in discussions on various legal issues including questions relating to the practical application of the rules. Traditional oral exam EU Consumer Law and Product Labelling The course provides you with a comprehensive analysis of the most important EU legislative measures concerning consumers and the effect of consumer regulation on conducting business in the EU.
The measures covered include consumer contracts, marketing law, product liability, financial services and choice of law and jurisdiction. The course focuses on giving you an understanding of how businesses can ensure compliance with the EU consumer regulation and manage related legal risks.
The topic of core consumer law is then supplemented by the rules on product labelling. This part of the course focuses on EU labelling rules in general as well as on the rules pertaining to food and environmental labelling eco and energy labels in particular.
However, there is also a positive dimension to European integration i. This course aims to introduce you to the main models used for harmonisation, including minimum and maximum harmonisation, harmonisation based on mutual recognition and home state control, and the differentiation that exists in the internal market.
The course will also explore the limits of harmonisation and the role of the different horizontal actors the Commission, the Court, et al.

Taking into account the theoretical aspects of EU law and its internal market law, the course also has a functional and applied dimension. By thoroughly examining specific areas of EU legislation, the course will explore a number of areas where harmonisation has been specifically undertaken.
Here the course will discuss examples of different sectoral areas in-depth and uncover the legal problems that have been evident in the development of an internal market in Europe. Drafting Contracts in a European Business Context The course provides you with a comprehensive analysis of background law and contract practices in the EU.
It focuses particularly on the similarities and differences between the legal traditions and contract practices of European law. The course also aims to provide you with an understanding of how legal traditions shape contract practices, and how the involved parties may negotiate efficient clauses that take these differences and similarities into consideration.
